This year, the Billhighway team are making the holidays a little more joyful by adopting a local family in need. The Billhighway team members donated clothing, linens, gift cards, food, cleaning supplies and more to a family in the Metro Detroit area, all wrapped up and ready to be put under the tree.
The Adopt-A-Family program was organized by the Community Housing Network in Troy, MI. This is the first year Billhighway has participated in the Adopt-A-Family program, however, we had such an overwhelming response from our team members that we will most definitely participate in this event again for years to come.
If you would like to participate in a similar program, please contact your city hall or your local Salvation Army or Goodwill Center for opportunities in your area.
It’s the end of Movember, the participating chaps can finally shave off their ‘staches and return back to normal. From our original post, we introduced Billhighway’s excitement for Movember and how we can help bring awareness and donations to the cause.
During the last month, the Billhighway team donated a total of $65 to the Movember campaign benefiting the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG. We are very proud of our team and others across the nation for participating in this event.
Screen of famous "entrepreneurial spirits" from Michigan
Today, Billhighway was apart of the 1st annual Michigan Emerging conference in Dearborn, Michigan to support growth and development of Michigan-based start-up companies. There was a contagious energy in the air about the future of the state’s economy and the quality of ideas coming out of Michigan.
A key point from Dr. Bryan Ritchie was the concept of Spotlight Michigan- Michigan State University’s challenge to keep young people in Michigan after graduation.
“This year Spotlight Michigan has a new team that is anticipating researching multidisciplinary methods to revive and support Michigan’s prosperous innovative future.”
One of the startups Billhighway is supporting is Loveland- a company with a dream to rebuild Detroit, one inch at a time. Follow their inspiring tweets at @makeLOVELAND.
Billhighway is proud to “adopt an entrepreneur” and lend a hand in the continuous efforts to improve the economy of our surrounding communities. For more information about Michigan Emerging, please visit their website at www.michiganemerging.com.
This month is Movember aka No-shave November to raise awareness about getting tested for prostate cancer. Billhighway supports the 1 in 2 men that are diagnosed with cancer by wearing natural and very unnatural mustaches at our office.
For details on how to donate to this cause, please visit the Movember site. The money raised will help make a tangible difference to the lives of others, through the world’s most promising prostate cancer research and LIVESTRONG’s programs that support young adults and their families battling and surviving cancer.
In honor of Tri Delta’s End Fat Talk campaign and Reflections Body Image Program, Billhighway would like to show our support by submitting an entry to Tri Delta’s video contest.
“With 10 million women suffering from eating disorders nationwide, body image is one of the biggest issues we face as women today. It’s time to free ourselves from fat talk, and focus on the healthy ideal–which looks different for every woman–and focuses on health, NOT weight or size.”
